Spring: What's in season?

What's in season during the spring

I love the smell of rain during spring. It makes me excited about growing my FIRST garden ever and eating all the fruits and veggies coming in to season! When you buy produce in season, it ends up having more nutrients and being fresher. Seasonal produce does not have to travel as long of a distance and therefore farmers pick the produce when it is ripe. Out of season produce is usually harvested early in order to ship in time to your local grocery store. Since the seasonal produce is closer, that means it doesn’t cost as much to transport which means you save a little money too!

Don’t be overwhelmed by my list of fruits and veggies available in California. Pick a few items a week to write down on your grocery store list, that way you won’t be scrolling while shopping! If you do not live in California, look here for a list of seasonal produce in your area.
